| For almost all my work I use paua pieces that I find myself, mostly on the rugged Wellington South Coast (accessible only with my mountain bike). I collect beautiful paua shell pieces, naturally shaped and polished by the constant grinding and tumbling on the stony seabed. (If I am lucky I find a handful of useful pieces, then on other days I may only find two). I use them the way nature shaped them.
I love everything natural and try and preserve the natural shape in my designs, hence the many different ones, there is no necklace or bracelet the same. I am very proud of my non-industrial look.
My work is rather 'organic'. It is very time consuming though to collect all the suitable pieces but that is part of the fun, using and appreciating what nature gives.
